Simon Krarup Jensen was born in Copenhagen in 1973. He started playing the flute at the age of ten. Simon played classical music through childhood and switched to rock when the hormones started circulating. In Denmark he played experimental hard rock with a band called Patricia Painting for three years while taking several courses in jazz theory, improvisation and of course flute playing. He played on the streets a lot, mostly ballads, jazz and folk music. |

In 1996, Simon moved to Sweden and joined the progressive rock band Grovjobb (the Swedish word for hard work). Simon was the flutist and saxophonist of Grovjobb for five years. During that period they made three albums. The other musicians in Grovjobb were: Jerry Johansson (guitar, sitar), Jesper Jarold (bass, violin) and
Ola Jensen (drums, percussion). |

In 1999, a group of five friends started an investigational quintett, called Någon (the Swedish word for someone). They had some gigs and recorded a few tunes.
The music of Någon was very amusing, but it was impossible for the guys to control the project, so they stopped playing together and saved their friendships instead.
The other permanent members in Någon were: Erik Fridell (accordion, piano),
Carl Söderström (bass, harmonica, piano), Per Fenger-Krog (piano, bass) and
Joel Gröndahl (saxophones). |

Simon Jensen Band started as an odd duo in December 2003 with Simon Jensen (flute) and Peter Nilsson (bass) trying to find a way to communicate. During January and February 2004, Per Fenger-Krog (piano, keyboards) and Oskar Bergenheim (drums, percussion) joined the group. One day in March 2004 they recorded four experiments in Peekaboo Studio in Gothenburg, Sweden, where Simon lives most of the time. The music turned out to be unique in several ways so they decided to continue playing. A few months later the band signed a deal with the label Blue Beat Productions. |

| The debut "All You Can Eat" was released in January 2005. Shortly after the debut the group was disbanded because the members wanted to go in separate directions. Simon was in the middle on a divorce and he didn't have the energy to lead a band. Instead he started teaching improvisation at ABF Göteborg, a small one-day-a-week job that he had for ten months. Besides that, he wrote on a book on the improvisation subject and played solo flute on funerals and weddings. |

| During the late spring 2006 Simon met the guitar player Jack Andersson at a party. They started playing and after six months the bass player Marcello Musumeci and the drummer Lars Rosengren joined them. In May 2007 the guitarist Daniel Jägerholt showed up, and once again it was time for the studio. Three tunes were recorded one day in May 2007. Shortly after that the musicians went apart. At present time, there is no Simon Jensen Band. Simon is planning to start it again during 2009 or 2010. |

During the autumn 2007 Simon did some recording jobs together with the electronica-
oriented Björn Nyberg who runs the dynamic
Open Jam Session project. The material was distributed on MySpace.
In January 2008 Simon joined the jam band Tangle. In the middle of March they recorded some tunes (click to listen): Bazaar and Signum. At that time, the musicians in Tangle were
Simon Jensen (flute), Björn Nyberg (bass), Svenna Granit (guitar), Håkan Åkerblom (drums) and Mårten Larsson (trumpet).
During the summer 2008 the trumpet was replaced by a tenor saxophone, played by
Philip Mauritzson.
In May 2009 two new tunes were recorded in Björn Nybergs own studio (click to listen): Tension and Dibana (the Xhosa word for communicate or meet). In October 2009 Philip Mauritzson left Tangle and was replaced with Emma Svensson. |
