Workshop: Never ending improvisation - the art of telling stories with music
Time: October the 23th 2010, 10.00 am to 18.00 pm.
Place: Göteborg, Sweden.
Price: 1200 SEK (i.e. aproximately 110 EUR or 165 USD).
Requirements: This workshop is for all instruments.
No previous experience of improvisation is required, but you need to be skilled in playing your instrument.
The main objective of this workshop is to investigate the relation between improvisation and the art of telling stories with music. Simon gives instruction on how to improvise without thinking in terms of music theory. The participants of this workshop will study the essential elements that make music say something, and they will make an attempt to control these elements. How do we play sorrow, melancholy, excitement, anger, happiness, fear and all the other moods and feelings that form a story, a message or life itself? Simon has developed several improvisation exercises, with inspiration from drama exercises.
